This year is the 50th anniversary of the Discovery Center, and also the 250th anniversary for our country.
We are having a huge celebration, called DISCOVER! 5.0 Saturday, Sept. 5th, 2026 Located at Medi-Park by the Discovery Center.
The Amarillo Symphony will put on a great show, along with a Drone show finale. Insufficient Funds will rock Medi-Park, including many other acts and activities from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
We need volunteers just like you to come and help us with this celebration. You will receive a shirt, hang out with the public, and help our VIP’s, it won’t be hard work at all!
If you are with a school organization, you and your friends can work together and help your organization at the same time.
Volunteer Shifts:
Set-Up Crew (Friday, September 4, 2026) Afternoon: 4 PM to 8 PM
- Assist teams with setting up structures, tables, staging, and other event elements.
Event Shifts (Saturday, September 5, 2026) Morning: 8 AM to 12 PM, Afternoon: 12 PM to 4 PM, Evening, 4 PM to 10:30 PM
- Support event setup, including chairs, tables, and general preparation. Afternoon: 12 PM to 4 PM Afternoon to Evening: 4 PM to 10:30 PM
Clean Up Crew: (Sunday, September 6th. 2026) Morning: 8 AM to when we are done
- Be available to help with cleaning the area, this includes picking up litter, helping DHDC put away tables and chairs, and overall leaving the park better than we got it!
