Maverick's AMAZING Race is a fund-raising event benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Amarillo, which provides after-school care, athletic programs, and summer camps for at-risk children.
The scavenger-hunt-like race is patterned after the TV show “The Amazing Race”, and features teams of two completing mental and physical challenges at popular locations throughout a 5-mile radius of downtown Amarillo. Teams of two can be made up of friends, couples, co-workers or relatives. The event attracts philanthropic people who love a challenge, are smart, fun, fit and ready for adventure.
The race will be held on June 6th, 2015. Registration is $35 per person. Every additional $100 raised allows participants 30 seconds off their final time up to $1400. Teams who raise $1500 or more will receive a “skip card” on one challenge!
From the starting line, teams are given a clue leading them to another checkpoint and they must successfully complete challenges—following clues—until they reach the end of the race.
