The Catholic Charities Hunger Project provides a free monthly supply of food for those 55 and older or disabled and living on a fixed income in a small grocery store setting. Volunteers also deliver boxes of groceries on a monthly basis to homebound individuals. Over 750 individuals are currently served through the Hunger Project.
The Pearl Longbine Youth Shelter is a 28-bed transitional emergency youth placement for at-risk, abused, neglected, runaway and homeless youth, ages 5 to 17.
Our Affordable Housing Program provides rental units for low income individuals and families. CCTXP currently owns one 13-unit apartment complex and three single family homes.
Our Immigration Legal Services Program is partially accredited by the Department of Justice to provide non-profit low cost immigration services.
The Adult Eye Care Program works in conjunction with local eye care professionals, who donate their services, to provide free eye exams and glasses for low-income adults.
Through a cooperative agreement with the State Department, managed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, we aid new arrivals to our country in becoming self-sufficient by setting up apartments, taking arrivals to health and other appointments, providing orientations regarding school, living customs, our city, etc., and providing job placement services.
Our new Education Department provides services, some of which are designed to help newly resettled refugee families, but others are open for anyone needing the help. Education programs include English Language Learning, youth mentoring, school integration aid, and citizenship classes. Our classrooms in our new building are in constant use with one or more of these activities taking place.
