Refugee Services of Texas

Who We Are

Refugee Services of Texas, Inc. is a not-for-profit social service agency guided by principles of human compassion and dignity committed to providing quality services for refugees, asylees, and survivors of trafficking. Founded in 1978, Refugee Services of Texas (RST) is a social-service agency dedicated to providing assistance to refugees and other displaced persons fleeing persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group - as well as to the communities that welcome them. RST provides services to hundreds of refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, and related vulnerable populations from over 30 different countries of origin each year. Originating in Dallas, RST now has service centers in Amarillo, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio.

What We Do

Our seven service centers offer programs uniquely designed to assist refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, and other vulnerable populations, helping them to become self-sufficient as quickly as possible. Our programs are also tailored to meet the needs of the host communities as they welcome these new neighbors. RST employs the use of a refugee management system to proactively meet the needs of our clients. We offer programs to assist refugees with basic needs and services during their initial resettlement period to the United States. Refugee clients are provided with case management and assistance while they work to meet the many challenges of transitioning to the local community.  Examples of some of what we provide for our clients are resettlement core services, economic empowerment, social adjustment services, referral to English classes, as well as intensive and medical case management and a Survivors of Trafficking Empowerment Program (STEP).
