Who We Are

"Doing The Most Good." In these four words, our mission - to feed, to clothe, to comfort, to care. To rebuild broken homes and broken lives. By walking with the addicted, we can lead them to recovery. In fighting hunger and poverty, we can feed and nurture their spirit. And, in living and sharing the Christian Gospel by meeting tangible needs, we give the world a lasting display of the love behind our beliefs.

What We Do

Our mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

The Salvation Army of Amarillo served 107,334 meals and provided 75,612 bed nights in our shelter last year alone. We have the largest shelter in the Panhandle (230 bed count). We provide emergency assistance to those at risk of becoming homeless through out social services program. We have a veterans program to assist those in the community and in our shelter. Our work is funded through kettle donations, local donations, corporate contributions, and the sale of goods donated to our Salvation Army Family Stores.
