Who We Are
Since our inception in September of 2012, we have re-homed over 75% horses we have received with a 95% success rate. We house, feed, nurture, provide medical care, train, and adopt out each horse when they are ready to form relationships with their new owners. By only adopting out horses that are ready, we ensure a successful adoption.
An average of 15 – 25 horses at Dove Creek enjoy a canyon sanctuary of 800 acres of grassy plains where they roam in a “herd” environment, setting the stage for the continued healing of their minds and bodies. It is this unparalleled environment and the painstaking care provided by our staff and volunteer team that enable us to share with you that we have successfully rehabilitated and found permanent homes for these wonderful horses.
It costs $150 per month just to house and care for a “healthy” horse. Unfortunately, ninety-five percent of the horses that come to Dove Creek are malnourished and plagued with a myriad of physical issues requiring professional veterinary care, meds, and sometimes surgery, all of which substantially increase this cost. Winter is the season that challenges us most, and with your generous sponsorship will help us continue our mission to save the lives of these magnificent creatures and assist them on their path to healing and wholeness.
What We Do
Our mission is to Rescue. Rehabilitate. Retrain. & Rehome horses in the Texas panhandle who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or surrendered. Life long sanctuary is offered to horses unable to be placed in homes. We provide education on responsible horse care as well as connect horses and humans in partnership, creating positive change in our community.
