Who We Are
High Plains Food Bank, a member of the Feeding America and Feeding Texas Networks, is the largest hunger-relief organization in the Texas Panhandle. Our mission is to alleviate hunger in the Texas Panhandle.
What We Do
Primarily, we are the warehouse and distribution center for more than 150 nonprofit feeding partner agencies: emergency pantries, churches, senior centers, childcare facilities, halfway houses, soup kitchens, shelters, and more.
We also provide targeted direct feeding programs, nutrition education, and social services assistance to provide life-stabilizing resources for individuals and families facing food insecurity, including:
- Direct Mobile Distributions, which is essentially a mobile pantry, in underserved counties
- Kids Cafe provides nutritious weekday meals to over 1000 kids at multiple safe sites year-round
- SNAP application assistance and social services assistance (medical, utilities, childcare, workforce placement, etc.)
- Nutrition, cooking, & gardening education
- Commodity Supplemental Food Program - monthly food box for low-income seniors
- Mobile Harvest - free produce distributions
With high efficiency and low overhead, we're able to provide about 14 meals with every $1 donated! In 2021, we distributed over 8 million pounds of food to neighbors in need.
