Who We Are

We promote compassionate care of animals and responsible pet ownership.  We believe every pet should have a safe, loving home environment.  Our shelter is home to nearly 100 dogs and 35 cats, and always has animals on a waiting list.  We provide boarding and health care for each dog and cat at our shelter, until he or she is adopted.  The Amarillo SPCA promotes pet spay/neuter programs and often offers vouchers for this service as a reduced cost.

We appreciate our Amarillo SPCA volunteers.  We encourage other "pet-lovers" to volunteer.  You must be 18 years of age or older at the shelter, and 16 to help at PetSmart.  Help us any way you can.  Can you spare an hour a week to help? Or perhaps a day?  All volunteer time is greatly appreciated, not only by us, but more importantly by the animals who will reward you with their love.

What We Do

The Amarillo SPCA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  A no-kill dog and cat shelter, operating solely on donations and fundraisers. We receive no Federal or State funding.  We are not affiliated with the national SPCA, so receive no funding from them.  We are funded wholly by private contributions, fees from animal adoptions, and annual fundraising events.  We depend on animal lovers and concerned pet owners in the Amarillo area to support our efforts.  Donations made to the Amarillo SPCA provide much needed help to animals of our community.  The Amarillo SPCA promotes spay/neuter programs. Amarillo SPCA has only four employees, two of which are part time.  We could not survive without dedicated volunteers who provide our animals with love and attention.
