Who We Are
Our Mission is to provide comfort, care and support in a home-like environment to families of children seeking medical treatment.
Our Vision is for all families of children seeking medical treatment to utilize the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo.
What We Do
The Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo was designed and built in 1983 to provide the comforts of home to our guests. Surrounded by rolling lawns, shady trees and bright flower beds, the House provides a peaceful respite for parents seeking medical treatment for their children from daily stress. The attentive staff and volunteers strives to meet the physical needs of families so that they, in turn, can better meet the emotional challenges associated with caring for their child. OUr House has thirteen individual guest rooms with private bathrooms. Comfortable, common areas encourage guests to communicate, cook, dine, and relax ith each other, while smaller indoor and outdoor spaces afford privacy and space for meditation.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a place to go when you just can't go home. The Family Room offers a special place of respite, relaxation and privacy within the walls of Northwest Texas Healthcare System where parents are just steps away from their child's bedside. The Family Room is located on the third floor, Pediatrics and NICU, and is staffed by volunteers daily with shifts from 9am-noon, noon-3pm, 3pm-6pm, and 6pm-9pm. Family Room volunteer hosts must be 18 years old, able to commit to a minimum of 6 months and complete immunization and background requirements.
