Who We Are

At Acts Community, our goal is to initiate change in the lives of San Jacinto residents through a variety of outreach, resources and training.  We bought our building in August of 2013, and after an extensive cosmetic remodel, opened our doors to the public on March 17, 2014.  In our first 9 months of operation (ending January 1, 2015) the Acts Community Resource Cents has accomplished the following:

  • Distributed 50,285 lbs. of food to 1,082 families/4,111 individuals through our food pantry.
  • Distributed 3,246 hygiene items through our hygiene closet.
  • Helped 197 mothers with diapers, formula, baby food and infant clothing.
  • Helped 43 San Jacinto residents find jobs or better jobs.
  • Painted the exterior of 12 houses through our neighborhood beautification project.
  • Launched a Kid’s Café program that is feeding 25-40 kids daily.  In 2015, we will serve between 9,000 and 12,000 meals to hungry kids in our neighborhood.
  • Become the Texas Panhandle headquarters for Toys for Tots.
  • Paid off our building and remodel to become completely debt free.

We are so proud of the work that has been done at the Acts Community Resource Center in 2014, but have even bigger plans for 2015.  If you would like to get involved, please visit www.actscommunity.org

What We Do

Acts Community was founded in December of 2009 by Chad Conner.  What started as a simple homeless outreach, has now grown to become a Community Center serving the residents of San Jacinto.  By focusing on a specific area, we are able to combat poverty and meet needs with specific, measurable goals.  Through relationship building, we are able to dig deeper than the immediate need, allowing us to focus on dealing with the underlying issues contributing to the poverty in our neighborhood.
