The sole mission of the foundation is irrevocably linked to the mission of Advo Companies. The independence and long-term nature of the foundation will provide a steadying campaign that will benefit Advo Companies for now and future generations.
What We Do
Since our founding, we have remained focused on our Mission: provide a service delivery system that permits individuals with physical and developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose the level of educational, pre-vocational and work options needed to meet their personal goals and objectives.
You have helped us accomplish the following with our students and our community:
- Pre-Vocational Training Center – Contracts are entered into with local businesses to complete assembly, packaging and manufacturing jobs. Individuals served by our agency are compensated for completing the work by an hourly wage or piece rate wage determined by a Department of Labor time study calculation. In addition, when an individual has met specific criteria, they are placed in the community for employment. Once in a community job, we provide job coaching to ensure success.
- An Adult Day Habilitation Center – This program provides training in areas of education and adaptive daily living skills. This area provides intensive staff interaction to ensure that consumers are engaged in their environment and are actively participating in their continued growth and development.
- Support Center – Support center for the operation of 28 group homes with 24-hour care provided to meet their individual needs. All the homes are located throughout the Amarillo community, close to family and friends. These home are licensed and certified by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services and provide housing for either 6 or 4 individuals. The homes primary focus is to promote independence and provide a family living environment.
- Nursing Center - Our nursing staff treats each of our individuals at our location. They provide scheduling for over 127 doctors and specialist. Distribute medication (insulin, liquids and pills) per doctor orders, perform routine medical assistance from minor injuries to catheters and insulin shots. The staff consist of one RN, three LVN, one certified medicine aid, and three staff members.
We support 147 individuals in the Pre-Vocational Training Center, 27 individuals in the Adult Day Habilitation Center and 123 individuals through our twenty-eight group home placements and foster care services we own and operate. Currently, we have over 300 individuals on our wait-list for our pre-vocational training program and our adult day habilitation. Advo is the only organization in the region that provides pre-vocational training, adult day habilitation, and group homes through one primary provider.
